Fri, 30 October 2009 Bill Burr stops by to talk with Jimmy and Stef about comedy and everything else... Comments[7] |
WTF!? I thought Burr was an asshole! A very *funny* asshole, but still!
Damn how I liked this episode. Fantastic to hear another—maybe a more nuanced?—side of Burr and the great respect JimmyTheLeader and Burr had for each other. Glass should be ashamed of himself, being on the road and not returning to home base for the 'cast, but this was still a fantastic (YET AGAIN) show.
It's so awesome to hear good, intelligent people being honest and very very very funny. Thank you so much.

You gotta have that guy back . . . awesome show . . . can only imagine if you had the complete team!
Jimmy, in your discussion of Wall Street bailout recipients and the unwillingness of the administration to do anything about the "performance" bonuses you noted that they cited that the grifters were under contract and thus had no ability to do anything about it. Contracts, though, don't apply to hourly wage workers in unions - thats what Sen. Shelby says.

I have been a listener of this show since day one and a listener of Bill Burr's podcast for a month or two. Each show is good in its own way, but this episode of CaEE was one of the best ever. I think only the Norm MacDonald episode rivals this one for total laughs.
Great instant chemistry between Bill, Stef and Jimmy. I'm a HUGE fan of Todd, but it may have been better that he wasn't on this episode as the three of you were the perfect mix.
I have listened to the whole episode 3 or 4 times and the bit about the Egg McMuffin-eating animal wiping his face with the bag probably closer to 10. I even took a few people into a small conference room at work yesterday and played that segment for them on my phone. The reaction was unanimous laughter.
What a fucking GREAT episode.

show is MUCH better without Todd. when he comes back, he should lay off the pot, or learn to put a concise thought together. the show flows so much better without his halting style.
and you all should be ashamed asking for money. podcasting is one of the lowest-cost enterprises EVER in the HISTORY of entertainment. if the bandwidth costs so much, make the ep's shorter, repurpose all the politico stuff for your radio show (which you basically do anyway), and reduce the file size. if you can't do the podcast for the Love or for the 'advertising' aspect of it, don't frickin' do it (or do quicker eps). you're sucessful comics and gainfully employed adults. you don't need anyone to subsidize your hobby.

wow. real mature, ryan. i do not ask for free shit. however, i do plenty of stuff for no money, they're called hobbies. i share them with my friends and neighbors, but i never ask for anything in return.
this show provides publicity and fan-generation purposes for the contributors. it gets their views, material, names & personalities across to potential fans and customers, kind of like a written blog or online journal. when they put out materials for purchase (CD/DVDs, books, newpaper columns, tv shows, show tickets etc), i am better equipped and incentivized to make a purchase, becaues (ideally) i am a fan of the contributors and their style of humor.
i did not ask them to do it or provide any content, they provided it for free.
now, if those purposes/benefits no longer outweigh the costs and hassles, they can ask for money, a la Never Not Funny. If i like it enough, i'll pay for it; if not, i'll unsubscribe, and follow everyone on via newsletter/twitter/etc to see when they're coming to my town or dropping a CD.
however, if they are BEGGING FOR CASH, and HANDOUT, but (1) don't need it, or (2) aren't cancelling the show without it, they're no better than those teenage/20-something street bums we see in Portland and SF with nice clothes and gelled hair, asking disaffectedly for handouts.
there are parameters to this new market. No one is asking/demanding for anything "for free". we will support them when they provide irresistable content that can't be had for Free (for instance, Jimmy's last album).
